Programme: The theory classes - held in Brussels - will concentrate on the most important aspects of sailing you will need to know as a novice, such as parts and functioning of the boat, manoeuvres, basics of navigation, safety aspects and rules to be respected while sailing. After this, you will immediately have the opportunity to apply this knowledge during the practical weekend in Bruinisse. There you will have the opportunity to sail on a small open keelboat on one day and a sailing yacht on the other day while being supervised and coached by experienced skippers. You are also invited to a barbecue and a party on Saturday evening!
Please note: Even before attending the Beginners' Course in June you are allowed to participate in other CNCE sailing activities (cruises aboard our own yacht BlueOne, dinghy outings in the Veersemeer, Netherlands) and sailing demonstration/training sessions on a Laser 16 open sailboat at Hombeek lake near Brussels). Please inform the skipper/coach concerned that you are new to sailing.

Practical information: Overnight arrangements (Saturday to Sunday) are either on a sailing yacht or in a 4-bed shared dormitory. Shower facilities are available at the marina. You will need a sleeping bag, 2 sets of clothes (plus one for the party!) and depending on the weather either a swimsuit and watersports/deck shoes or full sailing gear (waterproof jacket & trousers that you may rent on the spot if you don't have any). Needless to add that above all you need a passion for sailing!
Optional extras: Sailing gear for rent, carpooling
