Summary A weekend cruise typically starts on Friday evening in Colijnsplaat (Netherlands). The marina is a mere 1h20m drive from Brussels. On meeting, the skipper will brief the crew about the sailing itinerary, which will depend on the weather conditions, notably the wind, the sea state and the crew's experience. Zeeland is a unique and charming sailing area. You will visit picturesque towns like Zierikzee, Middelburg, Veere, Yerseke, Bruinisse, or Willemstad. The two days of cruising end on Sunday afternoon at around 5pm when BlueOne calls back to her home port.
What do you do during a cruise?
It's not all about getting to your destination: the beauty of sailing lies in the journey itself. A weekend cruise is enjoyable from the moment you step on the boat until go back home. Weekend cruises in Zeeland are ideal for CNCE members to build up miles, learn navigation techniques and broaden their sailing experience. Regardless of your skills level, you will always learn something new. Of course, team spirit is one essential ingredient. Other ingredients include good food and drink!
How much will it cost?
The Participation Fee for a weekend cruise is EUR 120 per sailor per weekend. This does not include the kitty to cover the shared breakfast, lunch or dinner served on board, as well as the "motoring" fee (10 euro per motor hour running).. As most of us live in Brussels, we often carpool to Zeeland and back.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
Depending on the weather forecast, you will need warm clothes (fleeces are best) and waterproofs to wear during the cruise. In the end, it may be warm enough for short sleeves, so be prepared for that, too. Accommodation is on the yacht; please bring your own bedding, a sleeping bag is ideal (pillows are provided). You also need to bring your own toiletries and towels (marina facilities in the Netherlands are usually very clean and you can enjoy a hot shower!)
