Summary A weekend cruise typically starts already on Friday evening, when we gather at Colijnsplaat (Netherlands). The marina is a mere 1h20m drive from Brussels. On arrival, the skipper will brief the crew about the sailing itinerary, which will depend on weather conditions (notably the wind and sea state), as well as the crew's experience. Do not forget to bring your sleeping bag along - for your comfort, our yacht BlueOne is equipped with pillows! Zeeland is a unique and charming sailing area: you will visit picturesque towns like Zierikzee, Middelburg, Veere, Yerseke, Bruinisse, or Willemstad. The two days of cruising end on Sunday afternoon at around 5pm when BlueOne calls back at her home port.
WHAT do you do during A cruise?
It's not all about getting to your destination: the beauty of sailing lies in the journey itself. A weekend cruise is enjoyable from the moment you step on the boat until go back home. Weekend cruises in Zeeland are ideal for CNCE members to build up miles, learn navigation techniques and broaden their sailing experience. Regardless of your skills level, you will always learn something new. Of course, team spirit is one essential ingredient. Other ingredients include good food and drink!
How much will it cost?
TheParticipation Fee (PAF) for a cruise aboard BlueOne is €60 per sailor per day on weekends/holidays (€50 on weekdays). For cruises lasting 4 days or longer, the PAF is €50 per day. You will find the price for each activity in the booking form below. The PAF does not include the kitty to cover food & beverage consumed on board, or the "motoring" (€10 per engine hour running) and possible marina fees. As most of us live in Brussels, we often carpool to Zeeland and back.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
Please bring warm clothes (fleeces are best) and waterproofs to wear during the cruise. In spring and summer, it may be warm enough for short sleeves, so be prepared for that, too. In the winter, the conditions can be harsh (windy and cold) so make sure you are well equipped (full sailing gear: waterproofs, sailing boots, sailing gloves and layers to keep you warm). BlueOne's usual wind and temperature limits apply, so be prepared for a last minute cancellation. Accommodation is on the yacht; please bring your own bedding, a sleeping bag is ideal (pillows are provided). You also need to bring your own toiletries and towels (marina facilities in the Netherlands are usually very clean and you can enjoy a hot shower!)

Summary The Offshore Call will bring a group of CNCE sailors from continental France to the Canaries!
About THis ACTIVITY
Except for some lucky ones that joined him during one of the legs of his inspiring trip around the Atlantic in 2018, most of us have followed our sailor friend and offshore sailing guru Ken Patterson, mainly by reading the “Zaria letters” or attending the conferences organised in Brussels. This has triggered a new offshore call for 2019.
For whom:
If you have good experience in coastal sailing and feel ready for moving offshore, if you wonder how it feels spending days in middle of the sea no land in sight, if you wish to break for a while from the metro-boulot-dodo routine to the rhythm of the watch shifts, if you want to learn and practice offshore sailing techniques, or if you just want trace a long furrow on the surface of the sea: this could be your call!
