Offshore Race

Picture

Ostend - Ramsgate - Ostend, 9-13 May

Summary
The Ostend-Ramsgate offshore race is a traditional regatta from the Belgian coast across the English Channel through challenging waters and areas of heavy traffic. If you are up for an exciting and competitive sailing adventure, please fill in our booking form to enquire and receive further information from our experienced skippers!
About the Race
Offshore race from Ostend to Ramsgate and back, including one regatta day around Ramsgate. In addition, this activity will include the transfer of our yacht BlueOne from Colijnsplaat, Netherlands, to Ostend and, after the race, from Ostend back to Colijnsplaat. On the way to the starting line in Ostend, we will practice working as a team on deck, hoisting the spinnaker and learning about sail trim. The race itself will be a challenging full-day sail across the Channel with a BlueOne crew competing with other sailors who are as keen to win as we are!
Some racing or offshore experience is required for this regatta.
How much will it cost?
The Participation Fee for this race is EUR 360 per sailor.
This does not include a 'kitty' to cover shared costs for breakfasts, lunches or dinners prepared on board and diesel used during the passage. As most of us live in Brussels, we often carpool to  Zeeland and back.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
For this race you will need full sailing gear (waterproofs, sailing boots, sailing gloves and layers to keep you warm during the passage). Please keep your luggage to a minimum to avoid excessive weight on the boat (we are racing!). Accommodation is on the yacht; please bring your own bedding, a sleeping bag is ideal (pillows are provided). You also need to bring your own toiletries and towel.
WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
Write to us as soon as possible using the form below as these events tend to fill up quickly.
CNCE works on a first paid, first served basis, so be sure to transfer your Participation Fee to the Club account to secure your participation.

The Barcolana is the most crowded regatta (breaking records in 2017 with 2101 boats registered) taking place in the suggestive bay of Trieste, Italy.
This year it will be the big "50th anniversary" event and will take place on Sunday, 14 October.

About the PLANNING
The indicative planning for the week from Monday, 8 October to Monday 15, October is as follows:
  • Monday 8 => travel from Brussels to Portoroz (Slovenia) to pick up the boat
  • Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 => training for regatta; sailing towards Venice or in Slovenia/Croatia
  • Friday 12 and Saturday 13 => sailing/training for regatta around Trieste and attending side events
  • Sunday 14 => regatta Barcolana and bringing boat back to Portoroz at the end of the day (possibly only part of the crew)
  • Monday 15 => travel back to Brussels
